Happy Hump day, y’all!! I was tagged by Emily of www.emmyloustyles.com to share my answers to 15 winter-related questions, so here they are! I also linked to a ton of my favorite winter clothing items below, so be sure to check them out at the end of this post. I love reading these types of posts and getting to know other bloggers better. Pictures on social media don’t always convey a lot, so I really enjoy posts that go into more detail about some of my fellow blogger babes!! If you’re not already following her, what are you waiting for?! Check her out over on Instagram, @emmyloustyles, and on her blog. She is so sweet, and always has such nice things to say! Not to mention that her style is on point, y’all! She’s also a mama to two beautiful kiddos who make cameos on her blog sometimes.
Two of my favorite fellow bloggers are also doing a similar post answering questions and blogging about their favorite winter items, so make sure and check out their blogs as well! First up is Ja’Net of @running_on_clean. She has great classic style, and she is the absolute sweetest person! I feel like we have very similar styles, so I promise you will love following her and checking out all of her outfits! We message constantly about all kinds of blog stuff with a little real life thrown in there, too! She posts yummy clean eating recipes on her blog also, and is the mom of 3 little boys. I’m not sure how she looks so beautiful and put-together after running after 3 little ones, but she makes it look easy! Be sure to check out her winter picks here, and give her a follow on Instagram!
Next up is Natalie of @nataliekennedyblog. She is just as gorgeous on the inside as she is out! If you are a lover of dresses, jumpsuits, and things with a little pizzaz, Natalie is your girl! She is always finding the cutest dresses on sale, and her Insta stories are always entertaining! She is a fellow Nashvillian, and we’re hoping to catch up over brunch after the holidays, and I’ve got a feeling we may sit for hours on end just drinking mimosas and chatting. Check out her winter blog post here, and be sure to follow her on Instagram as well!
1. What’s your favorite holiday tradition?
My favorite holiday tradition is riding around looking at Christmas light displays! I am like a little kid when it comes to lights, and I get all excited to see all the ideas people come up with. We usually stock up on some drinks and snacks and ride around for a couple of hours around our town. It’s so fun, and nothing puts me in the holiday spirit more! We are planning to go this Saturday night, so I can’t wait!
2. What is your favorite go-to lip product?
Y’all, I can’t even lie, I hardly ever wear lipstick, and I pretty much only do it now when I know I’m going to be taking a blog photo. I’m actually liking it though, so I may have to check out the suggestions of some of these other bloggers! So I would say my favorite lip product is tinted chapstick haha! I’m pretty much addicted.
3. What is your favorite winter scent (perfume, candles, etc.)
I love a good candle, and my favorite right now is Fireside from Bath & Body Works. Their 3-wick candles are the best! 🙌🏻
I also love love the smell of a fir or evergreen tree! We get a real tree every year, and the scent they put off is so comforting, and it just smells like “Christmas” to me.
4. What’s your go-to winter fashion trend?
I would have to say a scarf, and style, any color. I would wear one every single day if I could! They’re just so easy to throw on and can completely change the look of an outfit.
I also love layering with vests. If you are already following me, you know this for sure! I love them all: utility, puffer, and my fav right now is my J.Crew leopard!! If you’ve checked out my Insta lately, that thing is everywhere!!
5. What is your favorite holiday movie?
This may sound cliche, but it’s either Home Alone or A Christmas Story. I love when so close to Christmas TBS plays A Christmas Story for 24 hours straight, and I probably watch it a minimum of three times! We always used to watch it growing up, so I think it’s a nostalgic thing for me. Also, who doesn’t love Home Alone?! I’m pretty sure I could quote the majority of that movie by heart haha!
6. What’s your favorite holiday tune?
‘All I Want for Christmas is You’ by Mariah Carey or anything at all by Michael Buble or Pentatonix.
7. Do you prefer to travel or stay home during the holidays?
Luckily, we don’t have to make that choice. All of our family lives within 25 minutes of each other, so we stay local during the holidays. This weekend, we have Nathan’s dad on Friday, his mom on Saturday, and my family on Sunday. Sometimes it can get crazy though, because then we have to fit in 3 different get-togethers. Most of the time they are spread out and not stressful, but one year we had to do 3 Thanksgivings in one day! It was insane, because we had to eat a big meal at every one or we felt like we would offend someone. Needless to say, at the end of the night, all we wanted to do was lay down and go to sleep from all the turkey and sides we ate! We are very blessed to be able to spend the holidays with all of our family!
8. What’s your winter skincare must have?
Moisturizer for sure!! I use Clinique Dramatically Different moisturizing lotion , and it absolutely saves my face in the winter time. It keeps me hydrated even in the driest of weather.
9. Who are you favorite go-to retailers for winter clothing?
I would say my three favs are J.Crew Factory, Nordstrom, and Loft. I know I can always find whatever I’m looking for at any of these three places. My fav winter coat is from JCF, and a ton of my favorite sweaters this season have come from Loft. Nordstrom is always my #1 if i’m on the hunt for a particular item. Until a couple of years ago, I had the perception that they only carried high-priced designer items, but that is far from the truth. Some of my favorite scarves, boots, and purses are from there! They definitely are a great high-low retailer and should be at the top of your shopping list!
10. What is your favorite winter activity?
My fav thing to do in the winter is to snuggle up and watch a good movie by the Christmas tree. I know that sounds silly, but we are homebodies, so we would much rather have takeout at home than go out to the newest restaurant.
11. What is your favorite winter beauty product?
Right now I am loving Beauty Counter’s Lavender & Vanilla Hand Cream. It’s smells amazing and is super moisturizing. I like putting it on my hands before bed since lavender is supposed to be calming. I also love the fact that Beauty Counter products don’t have tons of toxins in them like others do. I recently switched some of my makeup over to their products, and I feel so much better about my beauty routine now.
12. Love or hate the snow?
I love love the snow!! Here in Tennessee, we don’t get much at all, but we’ve lucked out the last couple of years with a couple different “snowstorms”, so it’s been so fun to see and play in it. Now a snowstorm to me is like, anything more than 2″, so you Northerners would probably call that not even a dusting haha!
You will definitely never catch me out driving in it though. It scares me to death, because I’m afraid I’ll come up on some black ice and end up sliding everywhere. Also, people here have no clue how to drive in it, and that always causes tons of wrecks, so I would just assume stay out of the way!
13. What is one item on your wishlist?
A David Yurman cable bracelet! As y’all can probably tell from my Insta, I love a good deal, and I’m not usually a big designer person, but I do love classic pieces that you can wear for years to come. I think this bracelet fits that bill perfectly!
14. Favorite holiday treat?
Chocolate oatmeal cookies, hands down. I could literally eat a whole batch of those things!! We used to make them every Christmas growing up, and my grandmother still brings them to every Christmas get-together, because she knows they’re my fav. I’ve made them many times, but they’re never as good as my mama’s or nana’s!
15. Do you finish your holiday shopping before December or are you a last minute shopper?
I always have great intentions on starting early, and I usually do, but then I slack off…Now by starting early, I mean on Black Friday haha! I did about 50% of my shopping on BF this year, and then didn’t buy a single bit more until last week. I feel like it always sneaks up on me, and then I’m scrambling last minute. I always say that’s going to change every year, but it never does. I guess I just like the pressure of putting it off…
I hope you’ve enjoyed reading this, and below I’ve linked to some of my current favorite winter items.
