Great Layering Pieces!

Hey, guys!  I hope you’re having a great week so far.  It seems like it’s flying by to me, and I’m hoping it continues to do so!  This past weekend, we went to Pilgrimage Music Festival down the road in Franklin, and we had a blast!  Justin Timberlake was the headliner Saturday, and he is such a ridiculous entertainer.  We were able to hang out with some good friends and listen to some awesome music, but we were out in 90 degree heat 2 straight days in a row, and that sun was hot!  I’m looking forward to this weekend, since we don’t have much planned.  Every once in a while, a weekend with absolutely nothing scheduled is so nice.  Although it is the hubby’s birthday on Sunday, so we will have to do a little something to celebrate!

Today’s outfit includes some items that are great wardrobe staples:  a neutral cami for layering, a light jacket that will go with many outfits, and some basic skinny jeans.  If you have a few basic pieces in your closet, you can mix and match to stretch your clothes and make a ton of different outfit combos.  I’m not quite on board with the whole capsule wardrobe idea yet, but I do love having items that I can easily pair with many things.

This Loft cami is such a great layering piece!  It’s got pintuck detailing at the top, and it can be dressed up or down.  It’s nice and flowy, so it would be flattering on all body types.  It is a little sheer, but worn with a jacket or layering piece, it isn’t enough to really matter much.  I’m wearing an XSP, but I think I probably should have gotten a SP instead.  I wear Petite in a lot of their clothes, because I have a short torso and don’t like when things hit me right in the middle of my hips.  Right now they are limited on sizes, because last week they had a huge 40% off sale.  You better believe I stocked up on all kinds of cute things, and I’ll be sharing them in the next couple of weeks!  My jacket is from Lily Jane, a great boutique in Columbia, and they have all sorts of items, from clothing, to jewelry, books, shoes, baby items, etc.  If you’re ever in town, you should definitely check them out!  I got my jacket last year, but there are tons of other options out there right now, and I’ve linked some almost exact duplicates below.

My jeans are from Gap, and they are just your basic skinny jean.  Gap and Loft are my go-to places for jeans.  They fit well, don’t stretch out like some brands tend to, and these stores are always running some sort of sale.  Almost every pair of regular jeans in my closet are Gap, with a couple of pairs of Joe’s Jeans, which are great for curvy gals.  All of my colored jeans (white, red, yellow) are all from Loft, their Modern Skinny style.  I love them, because they aren’t jegging material like so many other pants out there right now, which aren’t as flattering on me.  I need something thicker that will hold me in in all the right places.

My necklace is from JCrew a couple years ago, which I added just to dress up my outfit a bit and add a nice pop of color.  My shoes are from Nordstrom, and I literally had to stalk their website everyday hoping that they would restock sizes after the N Sale.  I’m assuming someone returned a pair, because my size popped up one day, and I was on those things like white on rice!  They’re the perfect shoe to wear with so many different outfits, and the wheat color and pointed toe will elongate your legs and are very flattering for flats.  I read that they run a little big, so I sized up a 1/2 size to an 8, and they fit perfectly!  I did a post last week with a ton of different mule styles if you’re on the lookout for some.
